Introduction

Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) is a local NGO established in 2011 by a group of local activists who work together with migrant workers to secure social, economic, and gender justice for all migrant workers and racialized groups in Lebanon. We work for a just society where all migrants enjoy decent living and working conditions.


Project:

The idea of the archival exhibition was born from the desire to create a truly immersive experience for its audience. The primary focus of the exhibition is to educate and inform people about the history of the Kafala system and of ARM and the Migrant Community Center through a comprehensive and visually compelling timeline. The aim of this exhibition is to highlight the oppressive nature of the Kafala system and to showcase the resistance and efforts of migrant workers in their fight against this system.


Purpose and Scope of Work:

The purpose of this consultancy is to design a comprehensive exhibition display which effectively manages visitor flow and engagement while being mindful of the most suitable way to display sensitive content in a subtle yet raw manner.


Responsibilities:


  • Creating a comprehensive exhibition layout and managing the flow of visitors. The total size of the space will be 248 sqm approximately, consisting of 3 rooms.
  • Introducing concepts through various means, including plans, computer-generated visuals, and 3D models.
  • Making informed decisions about the placement and dimensions of selected materials.
  • Engaging in frequent meetings with the Archiving Officer, Graphic Designer, and other involved parties to review the project's development.
  • Contributing to the selection process of materials and artworks for display.
  • Supervising the construction and installation of the different components of the exhibition.


Requirements:

  • Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field.
  • Excellent design and artistic skills.
  • The ability to think creatively and laterally, attention to details and strong communication skills.
  • Technical drawing skills and experience with design and 3D modeling software.
  • Ability to work systematically, diligently, and punctually according to deadlines.


ARM commits to:

  • Providing the necessary context, information, and resources during the consultancy.
  • Leading on all admin, logistics, and tasks required to accomplish the proper design.
  • Acting as the focal point of communication amongst different individuals.
  • Providing ongoing feedback on the designing process and approach as needed.
