BABYSITTER - Terms of Reference

Coordinates with: MCC Admin Officer

Payment: USD 8/hour

Start - End Dates: April 2023 – December 2023

Introduction

The Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) is a non-governmental organization (NGO), working to dismantle systemic racism and achieve social, economic, and gender justice for all migrant workers and racialized groups in Lebanon since 2010. The Migrant Community Center (MCC) is an anti-racist, feminist, and alternative social space built around the interests, initiatives, and needs of mainly women migrant domestic workers living under the sponsorship system (Kafala) in Lebanon. Since 2010, MCC has been a safer space for migrants to meet, make friends, share resources, learn languages, build skills, produce knowledge, self-organize, and advocate for their rights as leaders of change.

Purpose and Scope of Work:

To safeguard children of different ages while their parents are occupied with activities at MCC

Responsibilities:

❖ Setting up for children’s activities, and ensuring the space is in order after the session

❖ Organizing different age-appropriate (0–10-year-old) types of activities for children at the center

❖ Using toys/games available at the center, while ensuring the safety of children playing

❖ Arranging snacks/meals available at the center, while ensuring the safety of children eating

❖ Ensuring the safety of children during naptime, while others are participating in activities

❖ Monitoring screen time for children, while ensuring all content is age-appropriate

❖ Familiarizing with the first-aid kit available at the center, and suggesting upgrades as needed

❖ Requesting hands-on assistance or support solely from the center coordination team if needed

❖ Communicating any emerging challenges or issues to the supervisor immediately

❖ Resolving any conflict among children, without resorting to any forms of punishment

❖ Remaining vigilant, and ensuring no child leaves the children’s area or the center unattended

❖ Reporting on attendance for every activity as per the template provided by the supervisor

❖ Remaining on duty until every child was returned to their parent or assigned guardian

❖ Maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for everyone at the center

❖ Abiding by the same role profile, organizational policies, and code of conduct when activities are organized outside of the center

ARM commits to:

● Providing the necessary context, information, and resources during the Consultancy

● Leading on all admin, logistics, and tasks required to complete the job

Candidate’s Minimum Requirements:

● High school diploma

● At least 1 year of experience of working with children of ages 1 to 10 years

● Excellent communication skills

● Good command of Arabic and English
